Demographics

San Diego is the seventh largest city in the United States and the second largest in California.  The population was about 1.26 million as of 2003 and had grown at about 3.5% between 2000 and 2003.  The Median age is relatively young at 32.5, while the number of people who hold a college degree is almost a third of all people over 25.  The median income is $45,041, slightly above the national median of $44,473 although slightly below the Californian income of $49,894.

The ethnic background of the population is predominately white at 60.2%, with the Hispanic population making up 25.4%.  The other ethnic groups made up the remaining14.6%.  The population was slightly male heavy with men making up 50.4% of the population.
