Most interest groups have web sites describing their history, mission, and policy preferences. If you know your favorite group, you can search for its web site using one of the search engines available through the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Internet Search.
If you are not sure of your favorite group, there are several web resources that provide links to different interest group home pages.
- Political Advocacy Groups: A Directory of U.S. Lobbyists from the Political Science Department of California State University, Chico provides a comprehensive listing of interest groups alphabetically and by subject.
- Public Agenda Online provides an "Issue Guide" for American politics. After clicking on the Issue Guide on the main menu bar across the top, select an issue from the alphabetical list, then click on "Sources and Resources" for descriptions and links to the key interest groups involved in the policy debate.
- Project Vote Smart provides links to interest groups by issue as Issue Organizations under its Issues and Legislation banner.
- Politics1 has a listing of interest groups under "Issue Debates" for the major political issues of the day.
- Political Information.com includes some links to interest groups under its General Political and Policy Organizations link, but many more can be found under Issues divided by subject.
