A Band on the Grow
Under the dedicated leadership of Dr. Randy Dickerson, the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Marching Band revamped its style, increased its numbers and broadened its audience to include venues around the world. It is now the largest marching band in the state of Wisconsin.

Crowd-Pleasing Style
The Blugold Marching Band has a distinctive style of marching, which combines the precision and artistry of drum and bugle corps with the high energy of great southern show bands.

Active Around the World
The Blugold Marching Band is one of the most active bands in the upper Midwest. The season typically includes Blugold home football games, three contest exhibitions and other selected performances, including festivals and stage shows. Halftime performances at Green Bay's Lambeau Field and the Minneapolis Metrodome were a thrill for audiences and band members alike.

In 2007-08, the Blugold Marching Band played in eight cities and four countries for combined audiences of more than 150,000. The season concluded with special showings at the New Year's Day Papal Blessing in St. Peter's Square, Vatican City, and stage shows in Florence, Italy, and Athens, Greece. The Blugold Marching Band took its second European tour (Venice, Paris and London) in 2010.

What the Blugold Marching Band has done is nothing short of astonishing and has provided invaluable educational opportunities to students. Blugold Marching Band members, representing diverse backgrounds and majors, are true reflections of the values upon which UW-Eau Claire is based and the level of excellence for which the university is known.
