Dear Friend: The Blugold Marching Band at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is gearing up for next season’s performances. Instruments will be polished, uniforms pressed and newly shined shoes will be laced up in anticipation for another electrifying marching season. In a few months, the BMB will register a record high of 300 members, with more on the waiting list. The Blugold Marching Band has provided students with a wonderful opportunity to become immersed in the campus culture while establishing a network of friends from the get-go. Halftime performances at National Football League games, special events throughout the state and European tours have given our members wonderful multicultural experiences. With the band’s rapid growth, our budget is being stretched to the limit. Since students are expected to pay many band-related expenses themselves, we cannot keep adding to their personal costs. Now, more than ever, our high-caliber ensemble, which is one of UW-Eau Claire’s BEST ambassadors, needs additional financial support. I invite you to join our family with your investment through our new “Adopt a Blugold Marching Band Member” program. By “adopting” a Blugold Marching Band member, you will help provide much-needed essentials for those involved in band. Uniforms, instruments and travel costs are just a few items our students need. Every time the band goes out for a performance, students have to pay for all of their direct expenses. A gift to support our band can help relieve some of our students’ financial burdens. Join us as we embark on another successful marching season, filled with high energy performances all over the world. I hope you will consider “adopting” one of our students. Your gift will help our band continue to give the gift of music. In appreciation for “adopting” a student, you will receive a photo and brief biography of your band member.
