Without [my benefactors'] support, I would not have made it." Deborah Chopper began attending UW-Eau Claire as a 40-year-old single mother of teenage sons. She'll soon earn her nursing degree, with help from several UW-Eau Claire Foundation scholarships. "I would not be able to aspire to what I am aspiring to without financial help." Organizational communication major Amy Oldakowski is grateful for scholarships that make her goal of becoming a college professor and forensics coach that much more attainable. "I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in collaborative research as an undergraduate." Scholarship support helps Lori Scardino participate in research and become a published scientist as she works toward her degree while raising two children on her own. "I am forever grateful to my benefactors for allowing me to further my education so that someday I can teach others." Generous donors have made it possible for Dustin Vanoverbeke to overcome financial hurdles and complete his undergraduate degree. "Your generosity will touch so many more lives than you, or I, could ever imagine." Scholarships through the UW-Eau Claire Foundation have helped Dawn Holte keep her focus on learning while pursuing her dream of earning a college degree. “I look forward to making the most of the opportunities my benefactors have helped to provide.” For communication disorders student John Henry, the transition from undergraduate to graduate student is easier thanks to a UW-Eau Claire Foundation scholarship. “Your donations MAKE A DIFFERENCE.” Spanish education majors Lee Ann Pignet and Valerie Mumm gained invaluable teaching experience while area schoolchildren learned about a new language and culture. "Their generosity certainly inspires me …" This single parent can better take on the challenges she faces beyond the typical stresses of a traditional university student, thanks to generous donor support for single-parent scholarships. "I feel blessed that I can help these athletes ..." A graduate assistantship helps Jeffrey Ehrhard achieve his career goal of working as an athletic trainer at a university by allowing him to pursue an advanced degree. "Ambition and determination are not enough." Erin Szpara, an R.N. pursuing her B.S.N. degree through UW-Eau Claire's collaborative nursing program, now has goals within her reach that she once had no hope of achieving.
