UW-Eau Claire Foundation announces campaign total
in excess of $52 million, elects new board members

RELEASED: Nov. 6, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — The UW-Eau Claire Foundation's comprehensive campaign has exceeded $52 million in gifts and commitments, the Foundation board learned at its annual meeting Oct. 26.

The Fulfilling the Promise of Excellence campaign, which concludes Dec. 31, had a goal of $50 million. More than 20,000 alumni and friends have supported the campaign since its kickoff in 2002. Following the board meeting, more than 150 members of the Foundation's Circle of Excellence met to continue the campaign celebration.

Additionally, six new members were elected to the Foundation's board of directors. New board members are Charlie Bauer, Charles Lasker, Jane Lokken, Betsy Kell and Sam Stagliano, all of Eau Claire, and Jerry Strop of Castle Rock, Colo.

Bauer is retired from UW-Eau Claire, where he served 34 years as vice chancellor of business and student services. In addition to his long-term service at UW-Eau Claire, he is active with the Chippewa Valley Symphony board of directors.

Lasker attended UW Eau Claire in the late 1950s. A lifelong Eau Claire resident, Lasker and his family are the owners of Lasker Jewelers.

Jane Lokken is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the UW Law School. She has practiced law with Ruder Ware since 1987. She is a past chair of the elder law section of the State Bar of Wisconsin. She serves on the Luther Hospital ethics committee, the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Greater Eau Claire board of directors.

Kell is a 1973 graduate of UW-Eau Claire. She has served on the UW-Eau Claire Foundation's Women for Philanthropy group and is a member of the board for the Children's Museum of Eau Claire.

Stagliano joins the Foundation as president of the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association. He is a 1981 UW-Eau Claire graduate and is a shareholder and a certified public accountant with Bauman Associates.

Strop is a retired financial planner from Security Life in Denver, Colo. He is a 1972 UW-Eau Claire graduate. He is an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
