Campus Campaign Kickoff
Jan. 26, 2009
It's time to celebrate the many ways faculty and staff make a difference for UW-Eau Claire students with the kickoff of the 2009-2010 Campus Campaign, "Double your Impact."
Jodi Thesing-Ritter, associate dean of students and Larry Solberg, associate dean of the College of Education and Human Sciences, are serving as this year's Campus Campaign chairs. They are urging faculty and staff to participate in the campaign because it will impact the pursuit of the goals of the strategic plan and directly affect the quality of what the university can do for students.
"We know student access to educational opportunities is often made through the generosity of people like us," Thesing-Ritter said. "If we can achieve an unprecedented level of campus-wide participation in Campus Campaign, there are so many dreams we can make possible. Most important is not how much we give, but how many of us show our support by giving,"
Thanks to a generous alumnus, this year's participation will have double the impact, Solberg said.
"Employees who give for the first time or increase their gift will have their gift matched — doubling their investment in UW-Eau Claire," Solberg said. "A gift of any size will make a difference and generosity from faculty and staff will support the goals of the strategic plan. Campus Campaign offers faculty and staff the opportunity to contribute to what has meaning to them whether it is a department, a scholarship or a specific fund."
The university seeks to double the number of UW-Eau Claire students participating in study abroad programs and to significantly expand immersion opportunities, either in the United States or abroad. The Foundation has committed to providing matching funding to support these new study abroad and immersion experiences and gifts from the Campus Campaign can be directed toward these opportunities.
The university is also focused on providing transformative learning experiences and fostering student success. Support through Campus Campaign to the Foundation's Excellence Fund will provide the source of funding to support both the National Merit Scholarship Program and the Honors Program. This will help continue to attract the best and brightest students to UW-Eau Claire.
Gifts to Campus Campaign can also provide access to an education at UW-Eau Claire. A gift can be directed to the Blugold Promise Scholarship program, which awards scholarships to students with great potential and hopes, but limited means.
"Whatever the faculty and staff choose to support, their gifts are ways they can share some of what they've earned," Thesing-Ritter said. It's also a great way to have an impact on the promise our students hold."
