Chippewa Valley businessman Mike Siker has made a gift to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation to establish a Telefund scholarship. Siker decided to make the gift after visiting the new call center a couple of years ago.
The $250 scholarship will be awarded to students who have been a Telefund caller for at least one full semester with a good record for securing donations and who has a good attendance and attitude. The scholarship will be awarded each semester.
Stephanie Gustafson, a freshman from North Oakes, Minn., is the first recipient.
"Stephanie, a first-year caller has done a phenomenal job," said Diane Doudna, director of annual giving. "She exceeded her goals and has been one of our most consistent and hardworking callers. Stephanie maintains a cheerful, friendly demeanor while on the phone. We are so pleased Mr. Siker has chosen to honor the important work of our students."
