Vahlbusch

Jefford Vahlbusch, Associate Professor of German (Ph.D., U Michigan 1998), joined the Department in 1999 after teaching stints at colleges and universities in Southern Ohio, Kentucky, and Maryland. Born in Michigan and fiercely fond of snow--"it makes food and books taste better"--Jeff and his spouse Dr. Audrey Fessler, a faculty member in UWEC's English Department and Women's Studies Program, are delighted to be back in the north. Although he considers himself "first and ever" a teacher, especially of literature and language, some of Jeff 's current scholarship focusses on intersections of culture and politics in the 19th and 20th centuries. He is at work on studies of Friedrich Engels's understanding of historical materialism, the movement of the "Jungen" in German social democracy in the 1890's, and Hermann Hesse's reception in the USA.

Excellence. Our Measure. Our Motto. Our Goal.
