Dr. Martina Lindseth has been teaching Russian and German at UWEC since 1998. She is a native of Germany, received her Diplom at Leipzig University as an interpreter/translator for Russian, English and German, and her MA and PhD from Indiana University Bloomington in Slavic Linguistics. Her current research interests include translation theory, the language policies of the European Union, and the development of oral proficiency in foreign language learners. She has published one book, edited one book, written several articles on these topics, and presented papers at numerous conferences. Dr. Lindseth is the German Section head. In the spring of 2003 and 2006 she was the on-site director of the study-abroad program in Wittenberg Germany. In her spare time she plays volleyball in several of Eau Claire's leagues.
