Dr. Waters received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and his M.A. and
Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He joined the UWEC Faculty as
Assistant Professor of Classics and Ancient History in 2001. Part of his
appointment is in the History Department, wherein he teaches several ancient
history courses. Dr. Waters' research interests include Assyrian-Elamite
relations and the Achaemenid Persian Empire in the mid-first millennium BCE,
along with cross-cultural connections between the ancient Near East and the
Classical Greek world. He has published one book, has co-edited
another, and has published several articles and book reviews on ancient Near
Eastern and Greek history.
