If you have not yet enrolled in a postsecondary school, you should
read Funding Your Education, an introductory publication that gives
an overview of the Student Financial Assistance Programs and how
to apply for aid. Funding Your Education provides general information
about the U.S. Department of Education's federal student financial aid programs.

for Blind and Visually Impaired Students
The U.S. Department of Education's Federal Student Aid (FSA) office has a variety of information
resources available for blind and visually impaired students enrolled in education beyond high
school.
The Smart Guide to Student Financial Aid
An excellent, comprehensive resource for student financial aid information,
including sections on student loans, military aid, scholarships and interactive calculators.
The Student Guide
The Student Guide is the most comprehensive resource on student
financial aid from the U.S. Department of Education.

A U.S. Department of Education site listing educational opportunities beyond high school.
PIN Web Site
A PIN number was automatically sent to all students who filed
the FAFSA in 2000-2001. If you do not have a PIN number, or
if you misplaced it, you may request one on-line. The PIN allows
you on-line access to a number of federal financial aid services
which include your Renewal Application, Student Aid Report
(SAR) corrections on the web, and the ability to view your
personal financial aid record in the National Student Loan
Data System. The PIN also serves as your student signature
when you file electronically for financial aid.
The Direct Loan Web Site
Provides information concerning the Direct Loan application process,
repayment plans and Direct Consolidation Loans. There is an interactive
budget calculator to help you determine how much it will cost to
go to school and a repayment calculator to help you decide which
of the four Direct Loan Repayment Plans is best for you. You can
also review your student loan account information online!
National Student Loan Data System
A site where students can learn more about the national database and, with PINs, can access
their federal financial aid history.
Ombudsman
Contains information about the Office of the Ombudsman which
helps students informally resolve student loan disputes.
Vote Smart Web
Non-partisan group gathering and distributing biographical history, voting records, campaign
finances and promises, and performance evaluations about elected officials and candidates.
