Entrance Counseling
In order to receive your first William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, federal law requires that you complete an Entrance Interview. We want to ensure that you have a full understanding of the rights and responsibilities you will incur before you accept this loan.
This on-line Entrance Counseling is designed to help you understand your Direct Loan. There will be an opportunity to have any questions you may have about your Direct Loan answered before you complete this interactive program. Do not hesitate to contact the Financial Aid Office at any time if you have questions about your Direct loans, or any other financial aid concern.
Who must complete entrance counseling?
Any undergraduate or graduate student attending the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire that has not previously borrowed funds from the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan program at Eau Claire.
OR
Any transfer student who has not previously borrowed funds from the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan program or from the STAFFORD Loan program during attendance at their previous school.
About the quiz
• You will be required to take a quiz, and then log into the UWEC Blugold system using your Blugold ID and Blugold PIN number, along with the last 4 digits of your social security number.
• You must answer all the questions in order to continue beyond the quiz page. You will need to answer 10 out of the 15 questions correctly. If you do not, you will have the option to take the quiz again.
• You may also choose to review the site before retaking the quiz. Please note that each time you take the quiz there will be a new set of questions.
• If you are not able to answer 10 out of the 15 questions correctly after three attempts, you will be directed to the beginning of the Entrance interview pages to begin again.
• Once you have passed the Entrance Counseling quiz, the system will display the quiz results and allow you to either log in with your Blugold ID and Blugold PIN. The system will then send you an email verifying you have passed the entrance interview quiz. You should save a copy of this email, just in case there is a question regarding when and if you completed the entrance interview.
Now You are Ready to Begin...
It should take 20-30 minutes to complete the counseling session and quiz.
After completing your counseling session and answering at least 10 out of 15 questions on the quiz correctly, follow the instructions for entering your Blugold ID and PIN.
