Suggested Timetable

January 1 - April 15

Complete the FAFSA at the same time you complete your federal tax forms.
Although you may apply for financial aid after April 15, the aid for which you will be considered may be more limited.

If you need assistance with the FAFSA, detailed instructions are available online, or you may call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243 (use 1-800-647-8733 if hearing impaired).

An additional, separate financial aid application is required of students attending Summer Session. This application is available through the 'MyBlugold CampS.

You will receive a Pell Grant Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Federal Processor after the FAFSA is filed. If you provide an email address on the FAFSA, a link to your SAR will be sent to you via email, and you will be able to access it on-line. Otherwise a paper Student Aid Report will be mailed to you. Review the SAR for accuracy and keep it for your records. If corrections are required, this can be done either by correcting the paper SAR and returning it to the Federal Processor, or making corrections on-line. Signatures are always required when making corrections.

March - July

You may receive requests for additional information from the Financial Aid Office.
To prevent delays in the awarding of your financial aid, provide the information requested to the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible.

After all requested information is received and reviewed, you will receive notification about completing your acceptance or declining your aid through the new self service.  Incoming freshman will be notified by mail and continuing students by e-mail. We begin notification to continuing students in mid June. If you have adhered to the suggested timetable and you have not received e-mail notification by mid July, please call the Financial Aid Office at 715-836-3373.

If revisions are made to your financial aid during the school year, the revised award letter will be e-mailed to you at your UW-Eau Claire e-mail address.

If you requested loan assistance
and are found eligible, you will receive notification about completing a Promissory Note for a William D. Ford Federal Direct Student Loan (if you are a first time borrower under this program) . The William D. Ford Direct Student Loan Promissory Note, you will complete electronically using your federal pin number.  The Federal Perkins loan are downloaded and printed from your 'MyBlugoldCamps and returned to the Business Office at UW-Eau Claire. No additional loan application is required.

August

You will want to have completed any promissory notes so that the money can apply to your account by the first day of classes.

September

Financial aid awards are applied directly to student accounts. If your financial aid is greater than what you owe the university, you may elect to receive your refund by direct deposit to your bank account.  Go to www.uwec.edu/refund to apply.  Checks for Aid disbursed the first two weeks of the term that is not Direct deposited will be mailed to your mailing address on University records.  Aid disbursed after the first 2 weeks of the term may be picked up at the UWEC Business Office (Schofield 108).

Financial Aid is awarded based on the student's total number of enrolled credits for the semester. Changes in enrolled credits could potentially affect the amount of financial aid for which a student is eligible, and financial aid may be adjusted (up or down) based on the student's final enrolled credits. Consequently, a repayment may become necessary - even after disbursement - if a student's enrolled credits are reduced.

Students will be paid every two weeks for student employment earnings.
