Application Process

You must apply for financial aid each year to determine if you are eligible for need based financial aid and some non-need based financial aid. Aid is awarded when your application is complete and is based on the funds available at that time.

You may apply for financial aid if you are currently enrolled or applying for admission at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (UWEC). Before eligibility for aid can be determined, you must complete the following forms:

Federal Income Tax Forms

• About 30 percent of our applicants are required to submit signed copies of income tax forms (both parents' and student's). You do not need to submit tax forms unless requested to do so by the UWEC Financial Aid Office.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

• This form collects the information needed to determine your financial aid eligibility. It is available at all high schools and also on the Web. Filing on the web allows you to complete the FAFSA data and submit it directly to the Federal Processor. However, after transmission, you must print and sign a signature page and mail it directly to the Processor. This must be received before processing will occur.*
• *Or, you may sign the on-line FAFSA electronically if you (and your parents if their information is required on the FAFSA) have a federal PIN number. If you don’t already have a U.S. Department of Education Personal Identification Number (PIN), you and your parent may apply for one now at http://www.pin.ed.gov. With your PINs, you and your parent(s) can electronically sign the FAFSA on the web. The PIN simplifies the application process and allows you to get your results faster.

Winterim and Summer Financial Aid

An additional, separate financial aid application is required of students attending Winterim or Summer Session. This application is available on MyBlugold.
