History
The UWEC Figure Skating Club was formed in 2002 with only
a few members. Since then the club has experienced tremendous growth.
In 2005, the club formed their very own synchronized skating team.
Each year the club has continued to gain new members.
We encourage anyone who has a love for skating to come join us.
BluGold Synchro Team
The University's synchronized skating team is registered with
U.S. Figure Skating as a collegiate
team and is currently
competing at
the open collegiate level. With so many interested skaters, the team holds
tryouts and distinguishes a competition line of eight to sixteen skaters.
The other club members who wish to be apart of the team become
alternate skaters, and are often given the chance to skate
at performances throughout the season.
Practices
The team typically practices two to three times a week.
These include on-ice practices at the nearby Hobbs Ice Arena and
off-ice practices at McPhee, the University's recreation building.
All practices take place in the evening.
Performances
Each season the team participates in competitions around the area.
Competitions usually include the Maplewood Classic, Beaver Dam's
Swan Synchro Skate and the local Eau Claire competition.
In addition to competitions, the team enjoys skating between
periods at a few UWEC men's and women's hockey games.
They also perform as guests at the
Eau Claire FSC
annual ice show and other ice shows nearby. |
