Summer 2004 Projects:
UW-Eau Claire Facilities Planning and Management has a variety of projects scheduled for the summer of 2004. The following information details some of the effects of these projects.

Electrical Outages:
This summer's planned electrical outage will occur on Saturday, June 5, 2004. The effect of this outage will be that McPhee and Hilltop Center will be without electrical power for most of that day.

These annual planned outages allow preventive maintenance and repairs to prevent unplanned emergency outages due to breakdowns.

Human Sciences and Services Building:
The Human Sciences and Services Building will undergo a major heating, ventilating, and air conditioning renovation project this summer. Many details remain to be worked out. A series of meetings will be held with affected occupants. Some areas of the first floor and the entire second floor will be closed for extended periods of time.

Garfield Ave. & Putnam Hall Parking Lot:
The Garfield Ave. and the Putnam Hall Parking Lot will be totally closed for three or four weeks following the May 22 Commencement. This will also include closure of the adjoining sidewalk (closed to pedestrians and truckster traffic). The road barricades will be somewhere in the vacinity of the footbridge ramp--just past the Schofield turnaround. The section of Garfield to be closed will be west of those barricades. We know this will be a burden for many -- but we have no choice. This is because of the bank stabilization construction project. Vehicles parked at the Library loading dock will have to be moved elsewhere if there is a plan to use them during this time period. Putnam and Thomas Halls will have to be accessed from the south side (or in the case of Thomas Hall from the east side as you use the sidewalk that goes under the Library).

The hill road will have the gates down all summer to minimize the public traffic that we usually allow during the summer.

University maintenance vehicles of all kinds will need to travel around this area someway, either by trucksters on other sidewalks. Regular sized vehicles will need to use Putnam Drive to the Phillips Parking Lot to get around this closed road.

Phillips Remodeling:
The L.E. Phillips Science Hall will have the following rooms remodeled this summer. Room 186, 265, 267, 276, 280, 281, and 387 will be under construction for the summer.

Instructional Tech. Classroom Remodeling:
The following rooms will be under construction for the majority of the summer, McPhee Room 106 and Human Science and Services Rooms 224 and 226.  Also Hibbard Humanities Hall room 100 and Nursing room 119 will be under construction during both the summer and fall semesters.

Governor's Parking Lot Construction Final Phase:
The Governor's Hall Parking Lot will be under construction for most of the summer.  The start date is uncertain yet, and the completion of this project is projected to be prior to mid-August.

Arena Floor Refinishing:
The Arena will be closed from August 11, 2004 until August 24, 2004.
