Upper Campus Hydrant Replacement:
Date:  May 25 2002
Contact:  Randy Hoover 836-5906
Details:
On May 25th, 2002 there is a planned replacement of a 40 year old fire hydrant by Maintenance & Central Stores building. The closest valves to shut down the water supply are out at Clairemont Ave. and Murray Hall.

Buildings that will NOT have water during this replacement process will be, State Office Building, MCS, Towers, Heating Plant, Horan Hall, Governor's Hall, Crest Wellness Center, Sutherland Hall, Bridgeman Hall, Oak Ridge Hall and Chancellor's Hall.

The plan of the process will be to dig up and expose the water main out at the street and have all the new valves and the new hydrant ready. Next will be to close the supply valves for Towers and by Heating Plant to prevent backflow water. Then there will be the shut down of water supply at Clairemont Ave. and near Murray Hall. The hydrants by the Heating Plant and MCS will be opened to depressurize the water line and finally the main will be cut into and two isolation valves in the main and the valve and hydrant will be installed. The system will be refilled and flushed to remove as much disturbed pipe sediment as possible and then the rest of the buildings will be turned back on.

It is planned for around noon for the shut down to start and last for about 4 to 6 hours. The City of Eau Claire Utilities crew will be working with us during this shutdown to maintain coordination.

Any comments or concerns should be directed back to me ASAP to be considered with the planning.

I know that some people are going to inconvenienced no matter when this work is done but this day will affect the least amount of people.
