Gyeonggi Province of Seoul, Korea (the largest school district in South Korea) is hoping to hire 25-50 native speakers of English to work as adjunct teachers in their schools (working with middle school and high school students). They are seeking teachers for the coming school year beginning this spring and are hoping to have teachers begin work in early April or soon thereafter. (However, because of the close dates, we think that they will eventually be hiring people who cannot start until after the current semester ends in May). The pay will be about $2,000 per month, and housing (or a housing allowance of about $300) will also be provided. Teachers will receive a bonus after six months of work. They are also hoping to find two experienced ESL teachers who will receive a higher salary. Please send an e-mail first; more information and application instructions will follow.

English Teaching Internships in France with Language & Friendship, Inc.
"Little Big Land," an ESL program for French children, is taking applications for positions at its English language villages in France:

AN ENGLISH VILLAGE
IN FRANCE? French parents want their children to learn English and have experiences in English-speaking countries. At Little Big Land , young children can begin their discovery of the English-speaking world without leaving home!
PARTICIPANTS:
French boys and girls ages 9 to 13.

APPROACH:
Little Big Land is an opportunity for students to take their first steps in English, or for those who have already started English in school, to put to use what they have already learned. Above all, it is a way to break down the inhibitions that interfere with oral communication. Little Big Land is an imaginary country . When they arrive, students receive a passport and become Australian, American, English, Scottish, or Irish citizens. They choose the English name that will be their identity for 2 weeks. With their counselor, they live in a cabin or group of rooms named after a region or city in their country. They meet historical or fictional figures--Sacagawea, Robin Hood, Harry Potter, Crocodile Dundee…They celebrate holidays like Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day and learn English songs. Without leaving France, they are surrounded by English and begin to assimilate basic communication skills.

SITES:
In 2007, Little Big Land will organize its villages at 3 locations in France : - Tours (Indre-et-Loire), on the banks of the Loire, on the grounds of the historic Abbey of Marmoutier, founded by St. Martin in the 5th century ; - Le Chambon-sur-Lignon (Haute Loire), a village located at an altitude of 1000m in southeast France between Le Puy-en-Velay and Valence on the grounds of the College International Cevenol. - Les Monts d'Olme (Ariege), a small ski resort in the Pyrenees.

DATES:
Three 2-week sessions are planned in 2007 between July 1 and August 13 . Counselors are asked to arrive by about  June 26 (date to be confirmed) for a staff orientation and training session. They may apply to work for 1, 2, or all 3 sessions.

STAFF
POSITIONS: - ESL Coordinators
Counselors/Activity Coordinators

The staff is composed of native English speakers and of French counselors who have lived in an English-speaking country. A curriculum has been prepared by an American educator with experience in the language village approach. An American teacher living in Tours will be responsible for the general organization of the program, and the staff will be headed by a French camp director and a native English-speaking ESL coordinator.

COMPENSATION:
Compensation varies according to position. Room and board are provided throughout the sessions. Counselors are responsible for their own travel expenses to France. Train travel to the site will be reimbursed. Applicants are encouraged to apply before February 28.

Requirements:
Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent.
Preferably two years experience
No criminal record of any kind.

Pilot Program: Teaching English in Veracruz state, MEXICO in August, 2007

A phenomenal opportunity to teach English intensively in August, 2007 in two rural communities in the state of Veracruz, Mexico, using the Fluency Fast method. FF is based on seminars led by Blaine Ray, the inventor of TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling).

Eligible participants will teach intensive English for approximately eight hours per day (a morning and an afternoon block), spending four days each in two rural communities. Emphasis will be on teaching English verbal fluency to Spanish speakers with varying levels of L1 literacy.

Pre-departure training in Fluency Fast techniques will prepare you to share your expertise with highly motivated students, both adults and children. Fluency Fast has been used successfully with adults in the US, and we would like to pilot it in Mexico with rural populations.

Using Fluency Fast in Mexico is the brainchild of Shaun Duvall, in cooperation with dairy producers in Western Wisconsin. Several Mexican communities in Veracruz state have been sending a labor supply to our local dairies, so Duvall and the producers want to show their gratitude by piloting this program to teach English to workers' extended family members. The pilot program will be the first step to start a series of 'itinerant English classes' in the area.

Participants in this Pilot Program will spend a total of 21 days in Mexico: two weeks in two villages, teaching and doing family stays, preceded by several days of cultural orientation in Cuernavaca, Morelos and debriefing respite days between teaching commitments in the stunning mountain town of Orizaba, Veracruz. The estimated cost to teachers is $1500 including air fare, family stays, hotels, food, cultural orientation at Cemanauac Language School, and materials. We will help brainstorm what funding sources we might tap into reduce the expenditure for individuals.

The English classes will be organized based on enrollment. The cost to prospective students will be minimum, basically for their materials. Instead, families will reciproate by providing housing and a place to offer the classes in exchange.

Traveling teachers need to be trained in TPRS/FF, and to facilitate that we're planning a Fluency Fast workshop in spring 2007.
Participants will fly into Mexico City, (early August), attend an orientation to Mexican culture seminar at Cemanahuac (Language Center) in Cuernavaca for several days before driving to Orizaba for an overview of the teaching assignments. From there they will head out to the villages of Astacinga and Texhuacan to teach. Weekends in Orizaba to 'debrief' will be a highpoint between the weeks of instruction.

Spanish proficiency is an asset.
