The Department of Education Studies prepares undergraduate and graduate students for elementary, middle level, and high school classrooms as well as school and public librarians through several programs and course offerings. Education Studies Department courses focus on curriculum, instruction, and assessment through a lens focused on collaborative leadership, diversity, technology, social justice, and other philosophical foundations of educations. Core professional studies which are common to all programs inlcude clinical placements, service learning, and diversity immersion experiences.
Students also acquire skills in planning and using various teaching methods and resources; creating and maintaining a positive learning environment; evaluating learning and instructions; pedagogy for diverse learning.
