UWEC English Alum is a Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Elizabeth Willis, who graduated from Memorial in 1979 and UW-Eau Claire in 1983, is a professorof poetry at the Iowa Writers' Workshop. She has won several awards for her poetry, including the National Poetry Series and the Guggenheim Fellowship. See the Pulitzer Prize finalists.

Chippewa Valley Writer's Guild

Partnership aims to take Chippewa Valley writing scene to new level: When B.J. Hollars gives a talk later this month at the V1 Gallery in downtown Eau Claire, he will be kicking off a series of events that are designed to help local writers enhance their craft while also giving them new opportunities to share their work.

Local Group Aims to Get Writers out of Their Basements and Into the Scene: The Chippewa Valley has long had a strong writing community. From the days of slam poetry at Acoustic Café to open readings all over town to authors selling thousands and thousands of copies of their work, it's a nice little hotbed for great writers to hone their craft.
