Keynote: Nothing Prepares You for Business Like the Liberal Arts
Monday, 10/28, 6:00-7:00 pm, Hibbard Hall 100
Meet and Greet will begin at 5:00 pm in the lobby of Hibbard Hall in front of the lecture hall.
Keynote lecture for students, faculty, staff, administrators and community members dispelling the rumor that the post-college career prospects for liberal arts students are limited to publishing, non-profits, teaching and fast-food service. This presentation describes “the practical liberal arts,” and demonstrates how the liberal arts prepare students with business-relevant skills and abilities—not just “communication skills.” Liberal arts students learn to manage qualitative information, conduct research, analyze data, understand other cultures, and apply emotional intelligence. All are essential to teamwork, leadership, business strategy, efficiency, and day-to-day operation.
