Why did attrition dominate WWI? Use Tannenburg, 2nd & 3rd Ypres, Messin= es Ridge, the Nivelle Offensive and the german defense in depth to discuss tactics, technology, and philosophical reasons for the prevalence of attrit= ion.
Where submarines important strategically in WWI? Why? How?

2. = Compare the Allies to the Triple alliance in terms of strategy, tactics, and homefr= ont using Clausewitz and Sun Tzu. Why did the Germans lose, despite being tactically superior? Be sure to discuss Verdun, Flanders, Passiondaele, etc= in your answer?

 

3. = How important was submarine warfare? Discuss the strategies and tactics of sub warfare and counter-warfare, assessing the British, German, and American responses. Discuss the Lusitania as well. Were submarines necessary but not sufficient?
