The program's mission is to inspire underrepresented 5th through 12th grade students from the local and greater Eau Claire areas to dream big, believe higher education is possible, and show them on how to make it happen for themselves.

Register for New Mentoring Course

Blugold Beginnings has collaborated with UWEC Department of Curriculum and Instruction and Phuture Phoenix originators to provide students with a 3 credit course titled CI 295 Directed Studies Ed Mentoring P-12 Schools.

Mentors-2nd Semester Reminder

Remeber to keep in mind school schedules and mentoring time while registering for your classes for second semester! The available times to mentor for elementary schools are listed on the mentors page. HS mentors schedules continue to adjust independently.

Program Extension to Elementary Level

Blugold Beginnings is now serving 5th grader elementary students! The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire was honored in receiving the College Access Challenge Grant replicating the Phuture Phoenix program through the UW-Green Bay campus. The replication will create the elementary portion of the current Blugold Beginnings program.

The middle and high school Blugold Beginnings programs, that began spring of 2009, are continuing on with great success. The newest 5th grade portion of the program will begin fall of 2009, sending mentors into four Eau Claire and surrounding area elementary schools.
