Meal Plan

Question PepperWhat is the best meal plan for me to choose?

Here are things to consider when choosing a meal plan:

  • How many meals do I eat in a day?
  • Am I on campus during the weekends?
  • Do I eat on the go or do I sit down to eat?
  • Does my class or work schedule affect when I eat?
  • Do I like to eat with friends or go back to my room?

Each of the four meal plans available has its advantages and disadvantages. For help in choosing the right meal plan for you, refer to the meal plan information on this site or call or visit the Blugold Card Office in Davies Center's east lobby, (715) 836-4070.

I’m considering a fixed meal plan. If I don’t use all my meal deductions in one week, can I roll them over to the next week?

No. You get a set number of meals per week. If you do not use them, you lose them. But you start with a new set of meals the next week.

How do I add money to my Meal Plan Dollar Account?

You can add make deposits to your Meal Plan Dollar Account at the Blugold Card Office or the Service Center (cash, check MasterCard or Visa); at a value transfer stations around campus (cash); or online using MasterCard or Visa.

If I deposit $100 more to my Meal Plan Dollar Account and don’t use it by the end of the fall semester, do I lose it?

Any Meal Plan Dollars remaining at the end of the fall semester will carry over to the spring semester if you are on a spring semester meal plan. If you plan to move off campus for the spring semester and not have a meal plan, you must use your Meal Plan Dollars by mid-December or forfeit the balance.

If I'm on a fixed meal plan and can't eat in one of the cafeterias, what meal can I get in exchange for my meal deduction?

You can use a transfer allowance or get a transfer meal at one of the a la carte restaurants on campus. A transfer meal is an even exchange for a cafeteria meal. Many campus dining locations offer a transfer meal.

What is a transfer allowance?

If you are on a fixed meal plan and won't be eating in a cafeteria, and if you would prefer something other than the transfer meal that is offered at a particular dining location, you can receive $3.50 allowance toward your meal purchase. New this year is the option to trade in two meals during the meal period for a total allowance of $7 toward your meal purchase. Tell the cashier you are on a fixed meal plan and would like a transfer. Any balance remaining from your purchase may be paid with Meal Plan Dollars, your Blugold Account, or cash.
