Dear Prospective Graduate Student, We appreciate your interest in our graduate program in Communication Sciences & Disorders here at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. Our curriculum allows a student to meet academic and practicum requirements for:
Our program is intensive, current, and exciting, and is accredited in speech-language pathology by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The minimum criteria for application to our program are a bachelor’s degree, typically in CSD; at least 30 semester credits in CSD; a 2.75 cumulative overall gradepoint average in all college level coursework (or 2.90 during last half of coursework); a 3.0 gradepoint average in CSD coursework; and a grade of B or better in each graded practicum enrollment. Students who do not have a bachelor’s degree in CSD must earn a minimum of 30 CSD credits. See suggested post-baccalaureate sequence of coursework. To apply, you will need to send a Graduate School Application along with the application fee to the Admissions Office and arrange for official transcripts from all colleges you’ve attended to be sent there. You will need to send to me the CSD application form, three letters of recommendation and your GRE scores. The Graduate Application Checklist gives a brief summary of who needs to get what along with mailing addresses. The deadline for receipt of all of these materials is February 1. There are Graduate Assistantships and scholarships that you may wish to apply for. The application for assistantships and the CSD scholarships are available online. Both applications should be mailed to me. A Graduate Catalogue is available on the Web at: http://www.uwec.edu/registrar/catalogues/index.htm or upon request from the Admissions Office. Additional information about the University and graduate studies in our Department can be found on the web at: http://www.uwec.edu/csd/graduate/grad-materials.htm. Please be sure to keep us informed of any changes to your contact information during the application process by calling us at 715.836.4186 or emailing stadlema@uwec.edu. We plan to make admission decisions by mid-February, so all applicants will be informed by mail of their status by the end of February. The faculty decides on the size of each graduate class each year, but in recent years, each graduate class has been approximately 16 students. Again, thank you for your interest in our program. You are welcome to visit our facility, meet with me or other staff members or visit with current students. If you have any questions concerning the application process, or the program, please do not hesitate to call me at 715.836.4861 or email me at stadlema@uwec.edu. We look forward to receiving your application for admission! A more detailed description of our program and the application procedures may be found in the Program Brochure. Sincerely, Marie Stadler, PhD, CCC-SLP |
