Counseling Services Groups

Information:

Counseling Services staff are available to present on a wide variety of topics to classes, organizations, and residence halls. Please contact the center two weeks in advance to arrange a topical presentation.

In addition, counseling staff members are often willing to work with students on student research topics and class projects. Staff can be contacted by making an appointment at counseling services, calling us by phone, 836-5521, or by e-mailing the staff member you wish to contact through our Staff Profiles.

For UW-Eau Claire Students only

Each semester we offer a number of groups. Call 836-5521 for a list of the current semester's groups and the times they meet. Call about our assertiveness skills, time management, relationships, GLBT support, and overcoming depression groups/presentations. Other groups may be offered as well.

First Offenders Alcohol Education Groups

These groups are offered on an as needed basis. This group is for UW-Eau Claire students who have received an underage drinking citation in Eau Claire or other counties and choose to participate in the group as part of their penalty. There is a fee for both prescreening and for participation in the groups. Contact us for details on fee amounts. A prescreening by a professional staff member is required. Students who have not received a citation but who would like to address their alcohol concerns in a group setting and who have been prescreened by a staff member may participate in the group. All groups are run by a professional staff member. Call or stop by the Counseling Services office for more information on when groups are offered. All students who have completed the program will receive a certificate of participation.

Stop by the Counseling Services office at Old Library 2122, or call 836-5521, to set up a 1/2-hour pre-registration appointment.

Self Help Library

Counseling Services has hundreds of books, pamphlets, audio, brochures and videotapes on popular self help topics. Most of our homemade mental health handouts are found outside of the center at our "store front" and are free. Books and tapes can be checked out at the reception desk for a two week period. Many of these materials can be found on our Self Help page.
