Professional Education Program Report

Welcome to the School of Education @ UW-Eau Claire!

Preparing for the DPI Review of the School of Education has been a collaborative effort. As faculty and staff came together to define and discuss overarching knowledge, skills and dispositions, to develop and analyze assessment procedures at entry to the program, admission to the professional semester, and exit from the program and to infuse the Wisconsin Teaching Standards into clinical and classroom experiences, a sense of community and collective pride emerged. We therefore found ourselves moving beyond a compliance mentality to embrace more fully the opportunity to assume a creative, proactive stance as a mechanism to shape our program in ways that empower our students to become quality professionals who are collaborative leaders.

I often likened our process to putting together the pieces of a large and intricate jigsaw puzzle. We had all the pieces but sometimes we were not exactly sure where they should fit. At this point the puzzle is nearly complete but we know that we will continue to rework parts of the puzzle as we assess our efforts with program improvement in mind. We look forward to engaging with the challenges ahead.
