Center for Collaborative Leadership in Education

CCL Goals

The goals of the CCL are to support (a) the study of collaborative leadership-in-action practices and (b) collaborative projects where the goal is to improve collaborative practices for educators and human sciences professionals. The CCL's location at a regional university that supports many rural communities makes it particularly well suited to achieve these goals as small communities often lack resources to pursue leadership development activities. To achieve these goals, CCL will support activities in the areas described below:

A. Initiate research and study in collaborative leadership to support the Mission and Vision of the COEHS

The Center will initiate research that matches needs with interests and capabilities of faculty. Working in collaboration with the Office of University Research and Supported Programs, the Center will increase research activity, including faculty/student research collaborations, and generate internal and external funding. The Center also will maintain a clearinghouse of information on grant opportunities and other professional development possibilities for faculty to use as resources for seeking ways to fund projects that will advance collaborative leadership on our campus and beyond.

B. Provide resources and organizational support for collaborative projects

The CCL will promote collaborative efforts linking schools, departments, and disciplines within the UWEC community to regional educational agencies to improve the quality of learning experiences for students at all levels. In particular, efforts that address specific areas of current need in PK-12 schools and professional development needs arising from new teaching licensure under PI 34 will be supported.

C. Develop venues for exchange of new ideas regarding teaching, learning and leadership across institutions and disciplines

The Center will promote interaction among faculty, between faculty and students, and between on-campus and off-campus professionals through forums, seminars, and conferences for the improvement of education and the advancement of collaborative leadership. Creating an annual Collaborative Leadership Symposium for UW-EC faculty and students and area professionals will be among the first steps. The Center also will facilitate role exchanges among faculty on campus and professionals in the field and establish a student internship program that would relate specifically to collaborative leadership. Existing international partnerships will open opportunities to explore perspectives that are more global.
