PI 34.17 requires that school districts provide ongoing orientation, support seminars, and qualified mentors for all initial educators including teachers, administrators, and pupil services personnel. Initial Educator teams in each category must include an appropriately qualified teacher other than the mentor, an administrator, and an IHE representative. Mentor training and PDP evaluation training for members of initial educator teams, including IHE representatives, are being offered throughout the region.

Questions that the PI 34 Collaboration Planning Group are addressing include the following:

  1. What activities are currently planned or already engaged in to meet the requirements identified above?
  2. Where are the gaps? What additional educator support activities are most essential for the groups listed below (think in terms of content e.g., PDP information and training, licensing/support categories AND delivery strategies e.g., workshops, classes, presentations, informal support, networking)?
    • Classroom Teachers
      • New Teachers/Initial Educator
      • Experienced Teachers (Professional Educators/Master Educators)
    • Administrators
      • Initial
      • Professional
    • Pupil Services Personnel
      • Initial

  3. What do you think your agency is best prepared and/or most interested in contributing to a regional effort targeted at comprehensive support for educators?
  4. How will we (collectively) pay for PI 34 activities? What is reasonable to expect from the different stakeholders? How can costs be shared?
Excellence. Our Measure. Our Motto. Our Goal.
