2005 Proposed Activities
[This doesn't yet describe our goals or scope of work for the year – we need much
clearer articulation of roles and realistic tasks – and some separate planning documents.]
It is still a mix of ideas and actual work that is ongoing or known. Need to reorganize format
around specific goals for the year, activities to accomplish the goals, evidence of progress,
and administrative details like responsible persons, resources, outcomes, etc.]
Planning for existing programs and activities:
- Work with students to plan Education Celebration;
- Plan Mogensen program;
- Coordinate 1-3 above.
Implement organizational processes and strategic planning process:
- Identify Advisory council member roles and identities;
- Set up Advisory Council meeting schedule and processes;
- Articulate strategic planning process to include short-term, intermediate, and long-term goals
and measurable benchmarks;
- Set up basic formats for describing and evaluating center activities, sharing information
internally, setting and conducting meetings etc.
Organize resources and start searching for additional support:
- Project plans for existing and new activities;
- Gather account information and build budgets for known projects – allocate funds and
identify needs;
- Work with funding contacts to identify potential resources (ORSP, grant writer, Foundation,
other).
Review, approve and begin work on new initiatives:
- Undergraduate leadership pilot: CL pilot of leadership skills development
for identified students interested in education careers. Over time, model might evolve so that
participants would enter as pre-education candidates, participate in a series of CCLE-coordinated
activities and graduate with collaborative leadership certificate/status.
- Professional Leadership development: Develop and Coordinate Collaborative
Leadership Symposium that might involve area educators, faculty, and students in a series of
research and study activities culminating in a public forum (coordinated with other events?)
and dissemination event.
Establish Center as a visible Entity:
- Develop space in Brewer Hall to support center projects and provide meeting space;
- Design web site and move online.
Coordinate Center activities with PI 34 responses and conceptual framework implementation:
- Work with conceptual framework group and PI 34 group to make sure that CCLE activities mesh
with, but don't supersede, program efforts;
- Identify joint efforts between schools and departments and disciplines to develop more effective
approaches to teaching that address PI 34 new licensure rules. Seek ways for the center to support
or at least stay informed;
- Meet with area school representatives as needed to publicize center as a support mechanism
and partner in responding to PI 34, developing solutions to other school needs.
