Welcome!

Dear Faculty and Staff,

The purpose of this e-newsletter is to keep you informed about the transitions and continuing developments within the College.

January 25 College Meeting and Convocation

The first college meeting of 2005 is Tuesday, January 25 beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Davies Theater. We hope that everyone in the college also will participate in the COEHS Convocation that follows at 3:00 p.m. with featured guest Richard Thieme who will speak on the “Art of Partnering in a Time of Radical Change,” co-sponsored by the Office of Research and Supported Programs and a reception co-sponsored by the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.

A Word from WEB DEB

The WWW is a public experience, not just narrowed to this campus. UW-Eau Claire webstats show that people are visiting our campus websites from all over the globe, looking for information on our departments and programs. Like everyone else, they are looking for current information; so please keep me updated on changes within your departments that go on the web. If you haven't looked at your websites in a while, take a look; chances are you'll find something that needs to be changed. Please contact me at klossndl@uwec.edu if you have any questions or updates.

Differential Tuition and Lab Modernization Awards for 2005-06

Congratulations to the College Technology Lab and Project Studio, Communications Disorders, Kinesiology, Social Work, and Special Education for receiving differential tuition awards. The COEHS also was recently awarded nearly $50,000 for lab modernization requests submitted by CDIS, KINS, C&I and the College Technology Lab. These funds will help our faculty, staff, and students to benefit from state-of-the-art technology.

Welcome Paula Collins!

Peggy Govan accepted a position in the library and Paula Collins is transferring from Continuing Education to become the new Program Assistant in Communications Disorders. Please welcome Paula to the college team. We wish Peggy all the best and will look forward to seeing her in the library.

Beautification in Brewer

“Bigger than life” historical and contemporary photos of students and faculty in the college will grace the walls of the hallway on the first floor Brewer Hall by the end of this week. Special thanks to MaryEdna Hagen for coordinating this project with assistance from Pat Christopherson, Barb Erdman and Tamara Lindsey. The outer office of the COEHS Office in Brewer 153 has enjoyed a makeover during January. Please feel free to stop by for a visit!

College Committees

Department representatives to the three college-wide committees (Graduate & Continuing Education Advisory Council, College Field Experience Advisory Council, and the College Technology Advisory Committee) will be elected early this semester. Please consider serving on one of these committees that will be helping to chart the future of the college.

Wishing you an enriching and fulfilling spring semester!
