Board of Regents approve international business degree program
The proposed bachelor of business administration degree in international business was approved by the UW System Board of Regents June 9 and10 during the regents meeting at UW-Milwaukee. UW-Eau Claire is the first college or university in northwestern Wisconsin and the third public university in the state to offer an international business degree.
Rapid growth in international business is fueling the demand for people with international experience and knowledge, the program proposal states, adding that the program would ensure the competitiveness of UW-Eau Claire's College of Business graduates by appropriately preparing them to contribute to the state's workforce. Students in the interdisciplinary international business major would take upper-level international courses from a variety of disciplines including anthropology, art history, communication and journalism, economics, foreign languages, geography, history, political science and religious studies. The program, designed to be attractive to both nontraditional and traditional-age students, also would require students to either study abroad or complete an international business internship overseas or at a company in the U.S. that is engaged in international business.
