54th Annual Career Conference

Connect at Career Conference

The 54th annual Career Conference takes place on Thursday, September 29 from 10:00 am–3:00 pm in Zorn Arena. More than 125 organizations, including businesses, graduate schools, and state and federal agencies participate in the conference each year.

Co-sponsored by business fraternity Beta Upsilon Sigma and UW-Eau Claire Career Services, Career Conference is great place for freshmen and sophomore business students to practice networking skills, learn about career options, and discover which companies recruit on campus. Junior and senior students use the fair to make preliminary contacts with employers for internships or permanent employment after graduation. These contacts can be followed up with more formal interviews either on or off campus.

Companies including Target, Cargill, and Hormel will have representatives at the event. Students can find a detailed list of employers, and which majors they are looking for, in booklets available in the Schneider Hall and Hibbard Hall lobbies. Information is also available on the Career Services website.

Business majors and minors, as well as all other campus majors, are encouraged to attend Career Conference. No registration is required.

Pre-Career Conference Reception

Wednesday, September 28
Holiday Inn-Eau Claire Room (Campus Area)
7:00–9:30 pm

Before taking the next step in finding your future career, take the time to meet and chat with employers attending Career Conference in a more casual environment. Sponsored by the Student Accounting Society, the Pre-Career Conference Reception is free and open to the public.

Students can register for the Pre-Career Conference Reception using the online event registration form.

• Target: 4-6 pm, Davies Center Badger Room

Thursday, September 29

• Cargill: 10 am-12:30 pm, Schneider 203A (Missling Conference Room) and 12:30-4:30 pm, Schneider 203 (Cargill Collaboration Center)

• Ecolab: 3:30-5 pm, Davies Center Wisconsin Room

• Peace Corp: 5:30-7 pm, Davies Center Eagle Room

• CANCELLED West Business Services: 4-5 pm, Davies Center Alumni Room

Don't Forget Your Resume!

Follow these helpful tips to create a resume that will help you make a great first impression. Having a second pair of eyes review your resume prior to Career Conference is always a good strategy. Get advice from the experts in Career Services. You can access their services two different ways:

• Plan ahead. Schedule a 30-minute appointment with a Career Services professional. Appointments are available Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment, call Career Services at 715.836.2282.

• Just drop in. Career Services professionals will be reviewing resumes on a first come, first serve basis, Sept. 26-28 from 10am to 2 pm in Career Services, Schofield 230.
