IS Professor Bruce Lo and Students Receive Blugold Commitment Grant for International Research
Dr. Bruce Lo, professor of Information Systems, is the recipient of a 2010-11 Student-Faculty International Fellows research grant from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Center for International Education, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and the Center for Service-Learning. The College of Business and the Department of Information Systems also provided financial support for the project.
Lo, and business students John Luoma (information systems and accounting double major) and Kristin Konitzer (health care administration major, information systems minor) will study the regional and societal influences in ethical information technology decision making in the United States and in Australia. The research brings into focus the university and College of Business globalization learning goal and emphasis on ethics. As part of their research, Luoma and Konitzer will travel with Lo to Australia in January 2011 to work with him and his research colleagues at Bond University, Southern Cross University and the University of Wollongong.
Student-Faculty International Fellows research grants, which provide the cost of round-trip travel to and from the host country plus up to $1,000 to cover the cost of in-country transportation and lodging for each faculty/staff mentor and each student, are funded from the Blugold Commitment to increase accessible and affordable global and intercultural immersion experiences for all students. Faculty/staff mentors also may request up to a $500 stipend for mentoring the student(s) as part of the eligible expenses.
