Welcome Dean Diane Hoadley

New Dean, Diane Hoadley

Diane Hoadley has been named dean of the College of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire following a national search. Hoadley's appointment will begin in August.

"Being the successor to Dean Tom Dock is a daunting task; Diane Hoadley is up to the challenge," said Dr. Patricia A. Kleine, UW-Eau Claire's provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. "Diane brings significant, requisite experience in such areas as AACSB accreditation, distance education, experiential/high-impact learning for students, procurement of extramural funds — all essential for maintaining and enhancing the highly regarded, distinctive program offered by the UW-Eau Claire College of Business."

Dr. V. Thomas Dock, former dean of the College of Business, recently retired after 18 years of service at UW-Eau Claire.

Hoadley comes to UW-Eau Claire from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill., where since 2002 she has served as dean of the Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences. She has led the college's efforts to provide a more integrative and experiential learning experience for students, including lab renovations to install the latest technology, adding integrative components to the curriculum, strengthening co-curricular activities, supporting collaborative undergraduate research and developing new study-abroad programs. She also worked closely with the college's advisory boards, alumni, businesses, foundations and state agencies to raise funds for lab and classroom renovations, faculty development opportunities, student scholarships and increased college endowments.

Previously she held faculty and administrative positions at The University of South Dakota, where she was an associate professor of business law. At USD, Hoadley also served as director of two graduate programs and was associate dean and interim dean of the Beacom School of Business.

"I am looking forward to joining the faculty and staff of the UW-Eau Claire College of Business," Hoadley said. "The college attracts high-achieving students, has a great professional development program and maintains two national accreditations, just to mention a few of its strengths. I like the university's emphasis on providing students with a transformative learning experience and strong professional programs. This is a good fit for me, and I'm anxious to get started with my work at UW-Eau Claire."

Hoadley received her bachelor's, master's and juris doctor degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
