Business Opportunities in Healthcare: The Changing Landscape of Senior Care

Business Strategies for Senior Care Organizations to be Sept. 16 Forum Focus

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will present a forum titled "Business Opportunities in Healthcare: The Changing Landscape of Senior Care" from 4:30-5:45 p.m. Sept. 16 in the Tamarack Room of Davies Center.

The forum will provide an overview of the changing landscape of senior care due to a variety of external forces such as customer expectations, market demand, government influence, economic climate and the graying of America. Panelists will discuss how organizations are responding and thriving in this time of change and will share strategies for moving into the future.

Panelists, all leaders of long-term care organizations, include Larry Deans, president of Golden Living Centers, which operates more than 300 skilled-nursing and assisted-living facilities in 21 states; Steve Chies, senior vice president of long-term care operations for Benedictine Health System, a Minnesota-based organization operating about 40 care facilities in seven states; Jim Deignan, CEO of Dove Healthcare, Eau Claire; and Barb Rode, president and CEO of St. Therese, which has facilities in New Hope and Brooklyn Park, Minn.

Douglas Olson, director of UW-Eau Claire's Center for Health Administration and Aging Services Excellence, will serve as moderator.

The forum is free and open to the public. No registration is required. A reception and special announcement will follow the forum.

UW-Eau Claire's CHAASE, the Western Wisconsin Regional Geriatric Education Center, UW-Eau Claire's economics department and the UW–Eau Claire College of Nursing and Health Sciences are sponsoring the event.
