Pedro Sottile, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Finance, Department of Accounting and Finance

Pedro SottileDr. Pedro Sottile is teaching Finance 328, Introduction to Derivative Securities this fall semester. He comes to Eau Claire from Southern California where he worked full-time at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and part-time at the University of California, Irvine.

Sottile was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He moved to Southern California several years ago to attend graduate school at the University of California, Irvine.

Prior to moving to the United States, he worked in the financial industry in Buenos Aires, primarily for ABN AMRO Bank, a Dutch bank that was a top 20 institution worldwide before it was acquired by a consortium of banks leaded by Banco Santander (Spain). He has worked in several different positions where he has performed activities related to credit, trading, and portfolio management.

Kris Kemper, PhD
Assistant Professor, Finance, Department of Accounting and Finance

Kris KemperDr. Kris Kemper comes to UW-Eau Claire from Oklahoma State University, where he completed his doctoral studies. He teaches courses in financial institutions and markets, and international finance.

Kemper grew up in Chicago, where he began his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He left school prior to graduation to join the United States Air Force. While stationed in Oklahoma, he completed his undergraduate degree, MBA and PhD. Between leaving the Air Force and starting his PhD, he worked in the financial services industry for several years.

When Kemper isn't working, he likes to read The Wall Street Journal and non-business related books. He likes to stay active through exercise, and he enjoys traveling and seeing different parts of the country. He hopes to travel somewhere internationally on his next vacation.

Kristian Mortenson, PhD
Assistant Professor, Accounting, Department of Accounting and Finance

Kristian MortensonDr. Kristian Mortenson teaches Principles of Accounting II and Cost Accounting for the Department of Accounting and Finance. He comes to UW-Eau Claire from Oregon State University, where he was an assistant professor of accounting the past three years.

A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Mortenson completed his PhD at from the University of Arizona.

Mortenson enjoys spending time with his family and he particularly likes attending fairs and festivals in small towns. His other hobbies include reading, working around the house, woodworking, and shooting.
