This Homecoming, a faculty member from the College of Business has again received the honor of acting as Homecoming parade Grand Marshall. Dr. Matt Germponprez, assistant professor of information systems, follows in the footsteps of senior lecturer of management & marketing LaNette Flunker (2007) and professor of marketing Dr. Chuck Tomkovick (2006).
The Grand Marshall is the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award. UW-Eau Claire alumni nominate this award to faculty members who have had a lasting effect on their educational experience.
“It’s a big honor. I was very happy and surprised,” Germonprez said about the award.
As Grand Marshall, Germonprez attends events such as the Yell-Like-Hell pep rally, Varsity Night Live, the Homecoming Court Reception, in addition to the parade. He also mentioned that his 7-year-old daughter Maggie, is looking forward to joining him in the parade.
Festivities will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 4 with the parade route starting on First Avenue. Following the parade, the football game against the UW-Oshkosh Titians begins at 1:00 pm in Carson Park. Admission is free for UW-Eau Claire students to cheer on the Blugolds!
