Futurist Timothy Mack to Speak on Social, Technological Change
Foresight: Decisions that Work Well Over Time
“The future doesn't just happen. People create it today through their action—or inaction.” Timothy Mack, President, World Future Society
We are seeing the most rapid social and technological change in history, according to Timothy Mack, president of the World Future Society. People's values, attitudes, and beliefs are changing. New inventions and innovations alter the way we live. The pace of change keeps accelerating, making it difficult to prepare for tomorrow. By studying the future, according to Mack, people can better anticipate what lies ahead. They can actively decide how they will live in the future by making choices today and realizing the consequences of their decisions.
In his presentation, “Foresight: Decisions that Work Well Over Time”, Mack will introduce us to the concept of foresight, and identify six super trends shaping our world: technology, economic growth, health, mobility, environmental decline, and deculturation. He will lead us in a discussion of how these trends may impact us and the organizations we work for.
