Attending the event as alternates are Callie Johnson, a senior marketing major from Spooner, WI and Arianne Thompson, a senior marketing analytics major from River Falls, WI. Blugold Sales Challenge finalists announced

Brandi Bawek, Jake Hagglund, and Steve Helgeson were the three top finalists at the 12th Annual Blugold Sales Challenge, held October 4-5, 2013 on the UW-Eau Claire campus. The event was sponsored by Northwestern Mutual-The Bohannon Group.
The three UW-Eau Claire seniors are majoring in professional sales marketing. Helgeson is also completing a second major in finance. All three finalists are from Wisconsin: Bawek is from Arcadia, Hagglund is from Neillsville, and Helgeson is from Eau Claire.
The Blugold Sales Challenge is designed to expose students to a sales competition and give them professional feedback on their selling skills. Students delivered a 20-minute sales presentation for ADP payroll software.
Jerry Kollross is the coach for the UW-Eau Claire Sales Team.

Enter to win the UW System Liberal Arts Scholarship Essay Competition
The UW System will hold its 9th Annual Liberal Arts Scholarship Essay Competition, providing students the opportunity to reflect on the topic “Qualities That Distinguish a Liberally Educated Person.” The competition is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin System Advisory Group on the Liberal Arts (SAGLA).
Students from all colleges are receiving an email announcing the competition and their chance to win as much as $2,500 in scholarships. Please note that the deadline for submission on the UW-Eau Claire campus is Saturday, February 1, 2014.

COB has new student advisory board
Dean Diane Hoadley has organized a student advisory board to provide her and the other college administrators with feedback, advice and suggestions regarding the student experience at the College of Business. The board, which consists of presidents and vice presidents from the college’s 15 student organizations, met for the first time on Friday, November 1. Discussion focused on the council structure, purpose of the group, and topics for future meetings.
The next student advisory board meeting is scheduled for Friday, December 13 from noon to 12:50 in Schneider 307.
College of Business recognizes students at annual scholarship luncheon
The College of Business Scholarship Recognition Luncheon will be held Friday, December 6, 2013 at 12:00 noon in UW-Eau Claire Davies Center Dakota Ballroom. The annual event, which is hosted by COB Dean Diane Hoadley, recognizes scholarship donors and the college's best and brightest students. Students who were awarded a COB scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year will be receiving an invitation to this event.

Mugan and Schuh Receive Athlete of the Month Honors
UW-Eau Claire men’s cross country runner Ryan Mugan, a sophomore IS, business
analysis from Howards Grove, WI, and volleyball player Kelly Schuh, a senior Spanish and psychology double major from Appleton, WI, were named Athletes of the Month for September 2013, an honor sponsored by the Wisconsin Army National Guard and the UW-Eau Claire ROTC.
The award was presented Thursday, Oct. 17 by Captain Brad Frahm, UW-Eau Claire assistant professor of military science, at the practices of both student-athletes.
Each month during the 2013-14 season, two Blugold athletes – one male, one female – will be selected Athletes of the Month. The recipients are selected by the UW-Eau Claire Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from a pool of the Athletes of the Week.
During the month of September, Mugan was select as his team’s Athlete of the Week twice. Schuh received Athlete of the Week honors for volleyball twice while also being named the WIAC Athlete of the Week once (Sept. 10).

Spring Registration now underway
The Spring Semester Priority Registration period for undergraduate students is November 6–December 6, 2013. Graduate students were eligible to begin registering for classes on October 30.
Registration times have been scheduled for all currently-enrolled students who are not candidates for December or Winterim Commencement. The registration appointment schedule is also available online here.
Registration priority is based on students’ earned number of credits as of Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Current Fall or upcoming Winterim credits are not included. Students may register (and drop/add) at or any time after their assigned day/time.
REMINDER: COB undergraduate students need to make an appointment with their academic adviser prior to registration date to review their class schedule and planner, and receive their PACs (Personal Advising Codes). Please plan ahead as adviser schedules fill quickly.

UW-Eau Claire chancellor's inauguration Friday
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will celebrate the inauguration of Chancellor James C. Schmidt at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, in the Ojibwe Ballroom of the W.R. Davies Student Center.
Schmidt began serving as UW-Eau Claire's eighth chancellor on July 1. See the chancellor's website for Schmidt's biography and information about the university's previous chancellors.
The public is invited to attend the inauguration ceremony and reception to follow on the first floor of Davies Center. To ensure a parking space for the event, anyone wishing to attend is asked to register online or call 715-836-5607.
The inauguration ceremony also will be viewable online via live streaming.

BUS helps the hungry on Halloween

On October 31, 2013, 50+ members of Beta Upsilon Sigma (BUS) collected non-perishables for Feed My People Food Bank. Over a two-hour period, BUS collected over 1,100 pounds of food—the equivalent of 918 meals!
Marek takes 3rd at APICS 2013 Head of the Class competition
Joey Marek (far left in photo), a senior University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire operations/materials management major from Maple Grove, MN, took third place in the Head of the Class competition at APICS 2013, September 29–October 1 in Orlando, Fl. Marek received a medal and a cash award. The competition tested student knowledge of production and operations management.
Trevor Kask, a senior operations/materials management major from Pepin, WI, also made it to the finals.
Attending the APICS 2013 in addition to Marek and Kask were Ashley Hoefer, Erika Holm, Mike Huberty, Shane Segner, Jeremy Vincent, and faculty advisor Terry Wells.
