UW-Eau Claire places Top 5 in APICS Head of the Class competition
Three University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire business students placed in the Top 5 during the Head of the Class competition for APICS student scholars and attendees at the 2012 APICS (The Association for Operations Management International Conference & Expo) in Denver, CO, October 13-16, 2012.
UW-Eau Claire senior Joey Marek (Maple Grove MN) placed second. James Grahek (Ashland, WI) came in third, and Dan Wolf (Appleton, WI) placed fourth. All UW-Eau Claire students are operations/materials management majors.
The APICS Head of the Class competition tests students on their knowledge of supply chain and operations management in a fun and engaging way. Participants begin the event standing and sit down after answering a question incorrectly. The last student standing is the winner and “head of the class”.
Fifty students from 31 universities participated in this year’s Head of the Class competition. Competitors came from such universities as Iowa State, Penn State, Virginia Tech, UW-Whitewater and Western Michigan. 2012 finalists were selected after four rounds of play.
