APICS Members Gain Real World Experience through Case Competitions

“Case competitions are not about winning; they are about giving as many students as possible the chance to learn problem solving skills through real world experiences,” according to Terry Wells, faculty advisor to APICS, the operations management organization. Each year APICS participates in a regional case competition held in February in the Chicago area. Last year, the Eau Claire team took 3rd place.

AITP Awarded $500 Grant
The student chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) has been awarded a $500 grant from Target. Students worked with co-advisors Amy Bauer and Dawna Drum to write the proposal and submit it in early fall, and the award was recently received. The funds will be used to expand and improve the annual spring seminar run by the AITP students.
UW-Eau Claire APICS Student Chapter Earns Platinum Award
The UW-Eau Claire APICS student chapter has received a "Platinum Award" for demonstrating exemplary standards in chapter administration. To receive this award, a chapter must have received the Gold Passport Award for five consecutive years. Very few of the 156 APICS student chapters have earned this recognition.
APICS is an international not-for-profit educational society for resource management serving the manufacturing and materials sectors since 1957. The organization counts among its members 60,000 managers and professionals representing 20,000 diverse companies worldwide.
