Lauver named management and marketing department chair
Dr. Kristy Lauver, associate professor of management in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Department of Management and Marketing, has been named chair of the department. She replaces Dr. Tim Vaughan who left the position to become associate dean of the College of Business.

Hilton to step down as IS chair
Our thanks to Dr. Thomas Hilton, who has served as chair of the Information Systems Department since 2003. Hilton will step down as chair to return to the classroom full time. His last day as chair of the department will be August 2, 2013. Dr. Jean Pratt, associate professor, will serve as interim IS department chair.
Jan Bednar, Business Communication, was selected as the 2013 Outstanding Professor by the members of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society.
Dr. Jian-yu (Fisher) Ke, (Management & Marketing), will receive the 2011-2012 Top 15% Teaching Award for lecturers, adjunct faculty and PhD students from the Department of Logistics, Business & Public Policy in the Robert H. Smith College of Business at the University of Maryland. The award is based on performance during the previous academic year.
Tomkovick awarded faculty mentor award
Dr. Chuck Tomkovick, professor emeritus of management and marketing, was one of ten individuals recognized at the at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's 15th annual Service-Learning Recognition Breakfast April 17.

May 3 reception to honor first accounting and finance department honor graduates and new Beta Alpha Psi members
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Department of Accounting and Finance will host a special reception for honor students, Friday, May 3, 2013 from 4:30–6:30 pm in Schneider Hall, Room 203. Faculty and staff will recognize the first students to graduate from the department’s honor program as well as students who were recently initiated into the Beta Alpha Psi honor society.

Bryan Larson, a senior political science and business administration double major from Eagan, MN has been elected University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student body president for the 2013-14 academic year. Jason Rector, a senior criminal justice major from Osceola, WI, will serve as vice president.

Business Communication Advisory Board to hold first meeting May 3
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Business Communication Program has formed an advisory board of alumni, and business and community leaders to serve as a sounding board for the program. The Business Communication Advisory Board will hold its first meeting, Friday, May 3, 2013 from 8:45–11:30 in Schneider 216.

Beta Gamma Sigma initiated new members; Bednar named Outstanding Professor
Thirteen College of Business students were initiated into the UW-Eau Claire chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), the honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The annual initiation was held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 3 pm in the Davies Center Alumni Room. The event was held in conjunction with the university’s Honors Month, a time set aside by the university to recognize students of high scholastic achievement.

Busey places fourth in PSE National Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon
Kellen Busey, a University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire professional sales marketing student from Rochester, MN, placed fourth in the 2013 Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE) National Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon. The national sales competition was held April 5 during the 2013 PSE National Educational Sales and Marketing Convention in San Diego, CA.
