BCOM Professor Larry Honl to Retire after 32 years
Dr. Larry Honl, assistant professor in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Department of Business Communication, will retire at the end of the May 2010 semester. His last official day is June 11, 2010.
Since joining the department in the fall of 1977, Honl has always placed students at the top of his priority list both in and outside the classroom. This dedication has generated such comments as, "Dr. Honl is among the best instructors I have experienced at UW-Eau Claire: he challenges students to learn and improve their communication skills."

Marketing Students Place 1st and 2nd Overall in Global Marketplace Competition
GTL Computer Company and Animate, Inc., two University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire teams comprised of students from the Marketing 438 capstone course, took first and second place, respectively, in the Global Marketplace Business Strategy Competition administered by the University of Tennessee. Students representing GTL Computer were Ben Collette, Cory Roskopf, Danielle Saxe and Mike Walker. Animate was represented by Eric Deans, Jeremy Kuehl, Zach Morrison and Doug Wojchik.

Finalists for the position of dean of the College of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will interview on campus during the next two weeks. Each finalist will hold an open forum during his or her campus visit. All UW-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the forums. ROTC Commissioning Ceremony
The cadets and cadre of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps Northwoods Battalion are holding their spring commissioning ceremony on graduation day. The ceremony will take place at 4:00 p.m. at the Haas Fine Arts Center, in the L.E. Phillips Recital Hall on May 22, 2010.

Neil Kurtz, M.D., president and CEO of Golden Living, presented the keynote address at the 2010 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Health Care Administration and Center for Health Administration and Aging Services Excellence annual spring banquet, April 8, 2010, in Eau Claire, WI. Dr. Kurtz shared his thoughts regarding health care reform, and its impact on Golden Living and the long term health care industry to an audience of over 300 people, which included students, parents, faculty members, alumni, and health care professionals.

UW-Eau Claire PSE Chapter Takes Top Awards at National Convention
The Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE) chapter at UW-Eau Claire won nearly $5000 in awards and scholarships at the 2010 PSE National Educational Foundation Sales & Marketing Convention, held April 7-10, 2010 in Milwaukee, WI.
More than 360 students from over 20 colleges and universities attended the national PSE conference. UW-Eau Claire students participating at the event were Kellen Busey, a freshman marketing student from Rochester, MN; Paul Coates, a sophomore marketing-professional sales major from Oconomowoc, WI; Pat Delehanty, a senior marketing-professional sales student from Verona, WI; Justin Held, a sophomore marketing student from Pewaukee, WI; and Nick Levin, a senior marketing-professional sales student from Eau Claire, WI.

Lynnea Spanjers, a senior management/HR major and Spanish minor from Brooklyn Park, MN, shadowed COB Assistant Dean Gretchen Hutterli as part of Mortar Board's Campus Leadership Day, April 13-14, 2010. Spanjers met members of the college's marketing and special events team, participated in a site visit for prospective employers with staff from the Eau Claire Economic Development Corporation and the UW-Eau Claire Materials Science Center, and had her photo taken for the College of Business website.
