Sarah Leuck was selected as the 2009 College of Business Outstanding Senior. Leuck, who is an accounting major and management minor from Gordon, Wis, also completed the Leadership Certificate. She was honored at the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association’s Outstanding Student Luncheon on May 6, 2009.
Leuck has been very active in her academic career at UW-Eau Claire. She will graduate from a 150-credit program in four years because of her dedication and hard work. Leuck said chose accounting as her major because of its combination of mathematics and business practices.
“I have always enjoyed math and been intrigued by the business world,” she said, “I thought accounting would provide me with a wide variety of career paths to choose from.”
Dr. D’Arcy Becker, Leuck’s academic advisor, describes her as an “all around top scholar.”
Leuck interned for the USDA Rural Development program as a financial advisor, where she assisted low income families that were looking to receive loans to buy a new house or repair an existing one.
In addition, Leuck was also very active in SAS (Student Accounting Society) and was elected Vice President in 2008. She also volunteered her time with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), where she assisted the public in filling out tax forms.
This summer, Leuck plans to take the CPA exam and will later join McGladrey & Pullen CPAs in Duluth, Minnesota. In the future, she would like to obtain her masters and eventually be a partner at a firm.
