American Marketing Association Makes a Difference:

AMA helps support the Special Olympics, organ donation, and the invisible children project

Come to the annual Fun Run event! On Saturday, April 24th, UW- Eau Claire’s American Marketing Association (AMA) will sponsor the 28th annual Fun Run event where people can run, walk, or rollerblade a 5K at Carson Park’s Oak Pavilion. AMA sponsors the 5K race to raise money for the Special Olympics. This event is open to all students, faculty, staff, and the community.  Featured within the day are:

·     Bands

·     Food

·     Beverages

·     Competitions

·     Door Prizes

·     Supporting the Special Olympics!

Second, UW-Eau Claire’s American Marketing Association Chapter is participating in the national AMA Saves Lives project with over 250 other AMA chapters.  As part of this project, each chapter will create short online videos that members can send to their family and friends to increase knowledge and awareness of the need for organ donation.  Our chapter’s goal is to increase the number of registered organ donors in the United States.  Chapters will be recognized at the AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans, LA in April, 2010.

Next, AMA’s Directors of Public Relations are helping to market a non-profit organization called "Invisible Children" Invisible Children works to rescue child soldiers who have been abducted in Northern Uganda, where Africa's longest civil war has been occuring for the past 23 years. Our team will help by making fliers, and advertising in various media channels such as the Leader Telegram, and the Spectator. The goal is to spread the word of the ongoing war and encourage the community to help end the longest running war in Africa.

Additionally, AMA helped Internship Mania in February to welcome employers and assist Career Services to ensure the event ran smoothly. Members of AMA were available before and after the event to assist employers with both set up and throughout the day.  Hattie Kane, AMA’s Director of Career Consulting, was the Marketing Lead and Internship Mania 2010 Student Coordinator. Internship Mania is an event for UW- Eau Claire students to expand their professional network relationships and explore new employer opportunities. AMA eagerly volunteers and participates at this event as members benefit by developing their professional skills first hand and prepare for the business world.

AMA is a student-run professional business organization that takes pride in offering student the opportunity to learn necessary skills and leadership to prepare for a future in the business world. These opportunities allow AMA members to get involved with campus and the community to make a difference!
