Dr. Thanh Nguyen"Assessing the Innovation Competence of a Third-Party Logistics Service Provider: A Survey Approach," an article authored by Fisher Jian-yu Ke (Management & Marketing) Shong-Iee Ivan Su (Soochow University, Taiwan) and Lianguang Cui (Nankai University, China), will be published in the Journal of Management Policy and Practice, vol. 15(4), 2014.

STUDY Abroad experiences

REMINDER! Applications for China immersion experience due Jan. 31

China

Applications are being accepted for a two-week University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire summer immersion experience in China, May 19 through June 6, 2014. The program, which will be led by faculty members Dr. Ling Liu, Department of Accounting and Finance, and Tom Sulzer, Department of Information Systems, is open to undergraduate and graduate students. Students will earn three credits for the experience.

Business students in India

India

Fourteen UW-Eau Claire business students studied in India, January 2–15, 2014. The group was led by UW-Eau Claire faculty members Dr. Dawna Drum, Department of Accounting and Finance, and Jerry Kollross, Department of Management and Marketing.

Students attended lectures by professors from Delphi University and Shri Ram College of Commerce on topics related to business, economy, politics, society, religion, history and culture. They also visited cottage industries, businesses, and cultural sites in New Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur.

HCAD program accepting applications for program admission

Health Care AdministrationThe UW-Eau Claire Health Care Administration (HCAD) program accepts applications for admission to the program twice each year. The spring application deadline for the 2015 practicum cohort is March 7, 2014. Applications are due by 4 pm in Schneider 400C.

Changes around Schneider Hall

1st floor

1st Floor Schneider Hall is being repainted. Facilities Management hopes to have the painting done by early February. Photography and furniture (benches, new chairs for lobby) will be added this summer.

Schneider 107

Schneider 107, has been converted into an open access student study center using furniture formerly in the Cargill Collaboration Center (Schneider 203). Students are invited to drop by the new workspace whenever the building is open.

Schneider 203

Schneider 203, Cargill Collaboration Center, has been converted into an active learning classroom similar in design to the Hormel Team Lab. Students can share their own computer screen with any of the other eight monitors in the classroom. A built-in Smart podium located in center of the room gives the instructor better access to all students.

Schneider 306 now has tables with power outlets.


The National Sales Team Selection Competition will be held Friday, January 31, 2014

This is a local sales competition to determine which four UW-Eau Claire Sales Team members will be attending the National Collegiate Sales Competition at Kennesaw State in late March. The UW-Eau Claire competition will begin at 10 am with the final competition round to be held at 5 pm. All events will be held in the Center for Sales & Sales Management, Schneider Hall Room 322.

Students competitors are Jordan Andert, J. Conrad Bergeron, Timothy Bortner, Kyle Carr, Allison Coffey, Jyasi Corbett, Christopher Cull, Gunner DeFlorian, Monica Dhaliwal, Taylor R. Donnelly, Nicole Foyt, Andrew Gohman, Jacob Hagglund, David G. Hart, Steven Helgeson, Jacob Holterman, Lindsey Janz, Kelsey Keiser, Tanner Luke, Keenan Meitner, Koral Pischer, James Schroeter, Eric Sipe, Jared Sweeney, Emily Thurier, Charles Truttman, Elizabeth Verkuilen, and Stephanie Weltzien.

Students will sell ADP Run software to faculty buyers. Sales professionals from Thomson Reuters and TEKSystems will judge the competition. Special thanks to Thomson Reuters and TEKSystems for sponsoring the event.


Special visit day for prospective business students to be held Feb. 19

A special visit day just for prospective business students will be held February 19, 2014. Prospective students will learn about the College of Business and what we have to offer. They will also meet COB faculty, staff and students.

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Congratulations to the UW-Eau Claire AMA case team

AMAFor the third year in a row, they have been named a Top 10 finalist in the annual AMA Collegiate International Case Competition. The students will present their case submission to a panel of corporate executives on April 10, 2014, at the 36th Annual International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans. The winning team will be announced on April 11.

Members of the AMA case team are Mike Boucher, Phillip Dickinson, Nate Guralski, Katie Hammel and Megan Lipari. Dr. Scott Swanson (Management & Marketing) is their faculty adviser.

Other Top 10 finalist schools are British Columbia Institute of Technology, Cleveland State University, Ferris State University, North Central College, Temple University, Texas State University, University of Arizona, University of Maryland, and University of Pennsylvania.
