Olive Elizabeth Orwig was born December 16, 2012 to proud parents Dr. Marcy Leasum Orwig (BCOM) and Darrek Orwig.
Congratulations to Ashley Brott (MBA office) and her husband, Chris, on the birth of their son, Bentley Nolan, born Jan. 12, 2013. Bentley is Jan Stewart's (MBA office) first great grandson.

Free online tax filing service for students, faculty and staff
UW-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff can file their own 2012 federal and state taxes on-campus this year thanks to an online service offered by the UW-Eau Claire Facilitated Self Assistance program, offered by the UW-Eau Claire Department of Accounting and Finance.

Health Care Administration Program accepting applications for admission to the program
The UW-Eau Claire Health Care Administration (HCAD) Program is accepting applications for the 2014 practicum cohort. Priority application deadline: March 5, 2013. Applications are due by 4 pm in Schneider 400C.

UW-Eau Claire chancellor search progress continues
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's chancellor search is progressing on schedule.
The search and screen committee has completed its initial review of applicants and has identified a group of candidates to be interviewed confidentially by the committee at a neutral site in the coming weeks, said committee chair Dr. Rama Yelkur, a faculty member in the university's College of Business.

Associate dean search committee named
UW-Eau Claire Dean Diane Hoadley has selected nine individuals to sit on the College of Business associate dean search committee. These individuals are Don Gaber (IS), Dr. Jay Holmen (Accounting & Finance), Dr. Tony Keys (IS), Dr. Scott Lester (Management & Marketing), Dr. Paula Lentz (BCOM), Dr. Marcy Leasum Orwig (BCOM), Meghan Ryan (student), Jan Stewart (MBA) and Abbie Windsor (CADE).
The committee’s first meeting was Friday, January 18.
The College of Business is conducting an internal search for the position of associate dean. This individual will replace Dr. Robert Sutton who retired in early November.

IS Scholarship Committee to accept applications starting Feb. 1
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Department of Information Systems Scholarship Committee will accept applications for department need-based and merit-based scholarships starting Friday, February 1, 2013. Applications are due by 5 pm on Friday, March 1, 2013.

2013-2014 scholarships available, ranging from $2,500 to $5,000!
The WICPA Educational Foundation’s scholarship program is focused on helping and supporting students achieve their goal of becoming a CPA.
Scholarships are awarded to qualified accounting students in their fifth year of academic study and working toward the 150-hour requirement to sit for the CPA Exam. Scholarships are based on academic achievement, a written personal statement and letters of recommendation. Scholarship award recipients will be announced in April 2013 for the 2013-2014 school year.
Applications must be received by the WICPA Educational Foundation by Thursday, February 28, 2013.
