Roble awarded new AMA scholarship

Krista Roble, a senior marketing major and public relations minor from Appleton, WI, is the recipient of the first University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire American Marketing Association scholarship. She was awarded a check for $500 from Dr. Scott Swanson, AMA faculty adviser, at the organization’s meeting on Thursday, November 29, 2012.

To be considered for the scholarship, students must be national AMA members with substantial commitment to the local chapter, according to Swanson.

“Krista has been involved in all levels of our chapter,” said Swanson. “Her community service efforts and involvement in professional development activities, such as the AMA regional conference and international case team, made her stand out.”

Roble, who is vice president of administration for the UW-Eau Claire AMA chapter, is also the chapter director of AMA Saves Lives, a national competition for AMA chapters co-sponsored by AMA and Donate Life America, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit alliance of national organizations and state teams across the United States committed to increasing organ, eye and tissue donation. AMA Saves Lives campaign builds awareness for organ donation on campus through social media, special events and other marketing activities.

In addition to her AMA activities, Roble has participated in community service activities for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Special Olympics, Hope Gospel Mission, and the Red Cross. She is the assistant office manager for the UW-Eau Claire Jazz Studies program and communications director for Eau Claire Jazz, Inc. an Eau Claire based nonprofit organization that hosts the annual Eau Claire Jazz Festival, one of the oldest and largest jazz festivals in the nation. She also is the virtual events marketing communication intern for CUNA Mutual Group in Madison, WI. An outstanding student, Roble is a member of the UW-Eau Claire Honors Program.

AMA is a student-run professional business organization that offers students opportunities to learn essential skills and leadership to prepare for a future in business. For more information about AMA contact Kaitlin Nix, UW-Eau Claire AMA president, at or visit the AMA website at
